BOLTON companies could soon be bidding for sought after office space at the home of premiership Bolton Wanderers.

The club has applied to Bolton Council for planning permission to extend the north side of the Reebok Stadium ground and second floor level for new offices - which they plan to hire out to interested businesses.

It is early days but it is expected that there will be a lot of interest if they push ahead with the idea - and the scheme would bring in some much-needed revenue for the premiership club.

It is expected that sports company and club sponsors Reebok, will also move some of its operations into the stadium.

There is 50,000 square feet of potential office space currently not used.

Managers have looked to Stamford Bridge in London the home of Chelsea for inspiration, where the premiership side has created a lucrative village within the grounds that includes offices, shops, hotel, nightclub and even flats.

Two years ago the De Vere Whites Hotel opened at the south side of the stadium, making use of space inside the modern structure.

Wanderers' parent company Burden Leisure chief executive Alan Duckworth says the club has done its homework and this looks like the best option.

"We have not decided exactly what the plans will be, but this is a good utilisation of the space which is unoccupied at the moment.

"Then we can have a full stadium earning some money for us.

"There will be some extension needed so we can make an attractive frontage and reception."

The plans are expected to be approved in the next few months. BOLTON companies could soon be bidding for sought after office space at the home of premiership Bolton Wanderers.
