I WAS astonished to read Mrs M Gault's bland assertion that Mary Magdalene was an adulteress and prostitute.
The vast majority of Biblical scholars having had access to authentic documentations discovered since the original gospels were written reject this unfounded allegation completely.
The early Church fathers found it convenient to malign this enigmatic and mysterious companion of Jesus rather than allow speculation into the true role she undoubtedly played in both his spiritual and personal existence.
