Matlock 1 Radcliffe Boro 0: BORO keeper Danny Hurst was the undoubted star of a poor show in Derbyshire.

A string of fine saves prevented Matlock inflicting further damage on the Unibond League Division One table-toppers. The defeat sees Boro looking anxiously over their shoulders at Harrogate Town whose 2-1 win at Trafford narrows the gap at the top to two points but with the Yorkshire outfit having three games in hand.

The one absentee from the Boro line-up was manager Kevin Glendon who has been ordered to rest after being taken ill the previous weekend.

Assistant Mike Farrelly took over the reins but found his charges strangely out of sorts. The vital only goal of the game came on 14 minutes when a deep cross by Taylor saw full back Gary Sucharewycz steaming in to climb above Rick Battersby and head home.

Boro had already wasted two early opportunities with Eammon Elliott and Richard Landon the culprits but having gone behind they rarely threatened again with keeper Hurst having one of his busiest days of the season.
