TYLDESLEY RU showed great determination and discipline to record a narrow 7-5 victory at Salford based side De La Salle.

Whilst the home side complained about everything, Tyldesley concentrated on keeping the ball and using it well when they had to. First score of the day came from Mark Swanton who weaved his way over the line for a excellent try, converted by Mark Dickinson. Next Saturday Tyldesley travel to Warrington in the First Round of the Lancashire Trophy.

Tyldesley Knights continued to pressure leaders Rossendale in the Second Team league with a comprehensive 59-12 win over De La Salle at St.George's Park. The game was over at half-time with Tyldesley dominating all facets of play which led to a 47-5 lead at the break. The second half became something of a none contest with Tyldesley adding two more tries and De La Salle one more as the game became more pedestrian and error ridden.

Tyldesley Dragons hastily hit the road after two different opponents cried off during the week so a visit to Ashton on Mersey at least brought some action, however, Tyldesley are still wondering how the home side sneaked a 12-0 win. Despite periods of prolonged pressure Tyldesley still gave away the ball at crucial times and the lack of any decent finishing was to be their downfall.

Tyldesley Colts home game against Wallasey was called off on Sunday due to their opponents unwillingness to travel.
