ON Monday, December 3, I attended the Griffin Hotel public house to receive a cheque for charity, for Derian House at 2pm. I had telephoned the landlord about parking and was told I could park in the back street.

However on my arrival at 1.55pm, the back street was full and so I parked on a spare bit of land, nipped into the Griffin to see if the cars in the back street were leaving. They were not, and so I went out to my car at 2.03pm to remove it to a pay and display. Guess what, a £60 ticket.

This is pathetic. No wonder you receive so many letters regarding parking tickets.

My main point is that I will not be shopping in Bolton again. Bolton Town centre will end up looking like Harwood shopping precinct. How can a scheme which has to be self-financing possibly be fair?
