Bolton 2nd 4 Liverpool Sefton 0: THE Seconds produced arguably their best performance of the season so far to dispose of Liverpool Sefton, the only team in the league, up until Saturday, to have beaten leaders Salford University.

Sefton came out strongly and attacked the Bolton 25-yard line, but seemed to lack the killer instinct required to beat an in-form Bolton back four.

A tactical switch up front brought Owen Evans into the fray after 20 minutes, and his influence was almost immediate. Adam Friend picked up the ball on the halfway line and fed Evans, who drove into the Sefton D. Showing superb strength he drew the foul from his marker, sent the keeper to ground and offloaded the ball to Friend, who made no mistake with the finish into an empty net.

Friend should have doubled the lead minutes later when, after deftly skipping round his man and the sprawling keeper, he missed horribly from ten yards.

Their clever, patient passing and devastating tackling had the Sefton players running round in circles, and soon brought a second goal. Good interplay between Dean and Davies released Evans, who fired in perfectly from the top of the D.

While Sefton wondered what they had to do to beat the tough Bolton rearguard, a slick move at the other end effectively killed the game off, Davies and Friend combining to allow Evans to sneak in his second and Bolton's third.

The inevitable occurred five minutes from time when captain and defensive powerhouse Richard Guest dutifully blasted in one of his trademark penalty corner bullets to round off a marvellous team effort.

Bolton 4th 3 Bowdon 3 Fourths hit back

THIS was by far the best fourth team performance for a long time and also the first time in three seasons that the fourth team managed to take a point off Bowdon.

Bowdon took the lead with some straightforward attacking hockey and soon made it two to leave the Bolton defence in disarray. The break was finally made when a short corner strike was illegally stopped on the line and Andrew Jones coolly converted the flick to go into half time only one down.

Bowdon dominated the second half and they soon got a third goal from some neat hockey on the right wing. After this the youngsters in the side got their heads together and forced the first short corner which Simon Coles coolly converted. The equaliser was converted by Mark Howarth with Keith Stanley helping along to get the ball in the net.

Bolton U14s dominated from the start to beat Deeside Ramblers 8-0.

Bolton overpowered the opposition with goals from Robert Davis (3) David Flanagan (4) and Luke Fiddler (1). Robert Allen in the Bolton goal had virtually nothing to do. 0 A good all round team performance from Bolton, but the score line could have been greater but for brave goalkeeper from the Deeside keeper.
