TWO men were lucky to escape with their lives when a car collided with a lamp post and flipped onto its roof earlier today.
The £50,000 Mercedes soft top, which is believed to have been stolen, was on a bend when it crashed into a lamp post and demolished a road sign before careering across Blackburn Road in Egerton and spinning onto its roof.
Firefighters were called to the scene, opposite the Egerton House Hotel, to make the area safe.
The passenger and driver, who both walked from the vehicle unaided, have now been arrested following the crash at 4am.
