BURY FC Soccer mascot Robbie the Bobby is in no danger of being dismissed for his bad boy antics according to the club chairman.

And Robbie -- real name Jonathan Pollard -- said he still has a few tricks up his sleeve.

The Shakers mascot, named after Robert Peel, founder of the police force, was sent off for the third time this season, during the Division Two clash with Bristol City, by referee Mike Dean after belly flopping on the pitch and mooning at the visiting supporters.

His past bad behaviour has included brawling with the Cardiff City mascot Barclay the Bluebird and ripping the ears off Peterborough's rabbit mascot. His antics are becoming renowned and he has even featured on American television stations including America's CNN.

But Bury FC chairman Terry Robinson said: "He is just doing his job". He added: "By the nature of being a mascot he has to act a clown and draw attention to himself.

"He had a rather exuberant celebration after a goal and threw himself down on the ground and lifted up his shirt tails to the crowd -- that is all it was. His fighting is in the past and we have dealt with that. He will not be dismissed."

But Robbie seems to have other ideas. He said: "I am hoping the Lincoln mascot will be coming down here. I have seen him poking fun at some supporters, and I am hoping to give him a good hiding."

He added: "I have been involved in brawls, but it was not me who started it. I am just sticking up for myself and they deserved it.

"The crowd expects the mascot to entertain and I have a lot planned -- I want to put Bury on the map." BURY FC Soccer mascot Robbie the Bobby is in no danger of being dismissed for his bad boy antics according to the club chairman.
