CHRISTMAS will officially come to Farnworth on Friday, November 30, when the festive lights are switched on followed by a colourful parade.

The event will start at 4pm with people assembling around the Christmas tree outside Asda. Local schoolchildren will sing carols and Bolton Youth Brass Band will provide the music.

The mayor will then switch on the lights and children from four local schools who have been producing costumes, lanterns and decorations will join the procession along Brackley Street.

The parade will end outside Aldi with the singing of the final songs and carols.

Afterwards, there will be mince pies and refreshments available at Trinity Methodist Hall.
