ANDY Preece has confirmed that he is keeping tabs on former Gigg favourite Colin Cramb.

The striker was a huge success when he spent three months on loan at Bury from Crewe Alexandra last season, finishing the campaign as the team's leading scorer.

Cramb was on the verge of signing for the Shakers during the close season but Dutch club Fortuna Sittard jumped in and offered Cramb a financial deal he could not turn down.

However, Preece said he had spoken to Cramb's agent and hinted that there might be a chance of resigning the free-scoring frontman.

"His agent rang me up about another player," explained Preece. "I asked how Cramby was doing and he told me they were bottom at the moment.

"There's no movement on it at this minute of time but obviously I'll be monitoring it.

"He seems to be okay over there but if things didn't work out I'm sure he'll be delighted to come back."

Preece has signed Leeds United's 20-year-old Harpal Singh on loan for a third month. The talented winger celebrated with his second goal for the club in last night's draw with Bristol City. ANDY Preece found it difficult to contain his frustration after watching his side concede a second late goal in the space of three days.

Michael Nelson's mistake allowed Danny Wilson's Bristol City to score am 88th minute penalty and snatch a draw.

It came hot on the heels of Lincoln City's last-gasp equaliser in Saturday's FA Cup game.

And for Preece the disappointment was almost too much to take. "I feel sick because we worked so hard and all we had to do was defend properly and we would have had three very important points," said the Bury boss.

"It is just criminal what we are doing in the last minutes of games. We are defending as if our lives depend on it until it comes to the last minute and then all of a sudden we stop.

"We have just thrown away two points. It's nothing to do with having young players. You just head the ball away and there's no excuse for it."

After Syros was at fault at Lincoln, it was Nelson's turn last night. He unaccountably tried to head a through ball back to keeper Paddy Kenny only to watch in horror as City's Aaron Brown got to it first, forcing Kenny to bring him down.

With just seconds left on the clock, Lee Peacock made no mistake with the spot kick.

And just like Saturday, it was such a shame because the Shakers had played some marvellous football.

Against the run of play Peacock put City ahead, sliding in at the near post to convert Murray's low cross.

The Shakers then had a let off. Nelson was adjudged to have handled inside the area and referee Mike Dean immediately pointed to the spot. City's top scorer Tony Thorpe grabbed the ball but had his low spot kick well-saved by Kenny.

The equaliser came five minutes before half time, when Newby was bundled over in front of goal just as he was about to convert Harpal Singh's looping cross.

Newby received several minutes of treatment before picking himself up to blast home a confidence-boosting second league goal of the season from the spot.

It was a great game for the fans to watch and it got better three minutes after the break when Singh latched on to Steve Redmond's pass and beautifully lifted the ball over a helpless Stowell.
