A DRAW is a rare result in rounders, at least it was until referee Brian Barton took charge of matches in this season's John Smith's Farnworth Winter League.

After never experiencing a draw in his life, Brian refereed a drawn match last week then another on Sunday. This time round it was a Section 'B' game in which A.S.A.P and Advance Computer Systems each scored 128 runs.

This was a good result for Advance Computer Systems and dented the hopes of A.S.A.P in third place and five points behind leaders Tonge Fold XI who had a comfortable win over a depleted White Horse side.

Mytham Ladies kept in touch with the leaders comfortably beating Bolton Motor Bodies. Leading by 26 runs at the interval, Mytham went on to win by 57.

Darcy maintained their unbeaten record at the top of Section 'A' by beating Royal Hotel and although they acquired players as the match progressed, their maximum complement was only nine.

Adlington are in second place and thrashed Carl Chapman by 105 runs while Imago beat Hanson to retain a share of second spot, four points behind Darcy.

In the Halliwell League, the top game of the day was the crunch match between Westhoughton & District and Morris Roofing. Westhoughton scored 42 in their first innings and dismissed Morris Roofing for 38 with three balls to spare. Westhoughton stepped up a gear in the second innings, scoring 54 whilst dismissing their opponents in 26 balls for just 26 runs.

This results put these two level at the top of the table, along with Darcy XI who beat Farmers XI by 47 runs.

BRUFC had a close finish against K.Js, winning by a single run after leading by nine at the break, thanks to a ten-run handicap start.

Lower Pools recorded their second victory of the season when they overcame a 40-run handicap to beat Smithills Coaching House.
