DETECTIVES in London are continuing to look through information passed on to them following a television appeal into the death of a Bolton policeman.

A team at Scotland Yard received more than 40 calls after a reconstruction into the murder eight years ago of Pc Patrick Dunne was screened on BBC's Crimewatch programme.

A spokesman said: "We received a good response and at the moment we are still investigating the calls."

Pc Dunne, a former teacher at the Deane School, was gunned down at the age of 44 in Clapham, south London. He was dealing with a routine inquiry when he heard shots across the street. As he went to investigate he was shot in the chest with a single bulled by a gang who then fired celebratory shots into the air.

A second man, William Danso, had been shot dead moments earlier.
