CUSTOMERS at a Horwich supermarket had to duck out of the way of flying cucumbers when a chef practised for a world record.
Noel Goulding is hoping to gain a place in the Guinness Book World of Records when he attempts to slice as many cucumbers as possible later this year.
The chef, who was brought up in Bolton and now lives in Wigan, entertained customers at Asda in Middlebrook when he ferociously sliced his way through more than 12 cucumbers in just minutes.
Elaine Cleworth from Asda said: "Whatever the world record is, Noel is convinced he can beat it.
"We are now waiting for the experts from the Guinness book to get back to us with the precise measurements Noel has to beat and then he will get chopping for real.
"He is determined to do it blindfolded!
"It was complete madness when he was practising and there were slices of cucumber flying everywhere!"
