WHAT a time to meet Hereford, supercharged and revitalised following the appointment of a new manager.
Phil Robinson took the reins earlier in the week when Graham Turner was pushed upstairs as football director. Robinson has quickly made his mark with two wins in four days and the three points were thoroughly deserved last night.
Leigh, with four wins in five outings, expected to notch another victory but their attack lacked that vital cutting edge against a well-organised United defence.
Michael Twiss posed the biggest threat and twice in the first-half his turn and shot nearly brought a goal but as the game wore on Leigh's attacking force diminished.
Hereford too rarely posed a threat other than long range efforts until the 64th minute when Gavin Williams slipped the ball to Scott Goodwin who found John Snape unmarked and he slotted home the winner.
