THE MEDIA, including the BEN always seem to use the same photos in the news -- "The Royal Bolton Hospital A & E".

I'm sure the population of Great Britain think that Bolton has a new hospital! Why doesn't the media show it as it is.

Show the original Victorian buildings, the work house, the crumbling brickwork, the hotch potch of little buildings.

In my view, the mistake Bolton made was to sell the site of the Royal Infirmary. A new hospital built on that central location would have made it convenient for all of Bolton's populace. In that valley a new multi-storey hospital need not rise much above the present skyline. A frequent Park and Ride service to bus, rail and outlying car parks would save space, leaving room for emergency parking.

The planners must face reality. If two old Victorian buildings weren't big enough then one certainly isn't.

A new big hospital is what Bolton and district needs. Something befitting a City maybe?
