AN ANGRY householder is waging a one-woman campaign after claiming her exclusive estate has gradually become a grot spot since it was completed two years ago.

Adrienne Duerdern, of Knebworth Close, is calling for council action to sort out the problems which she says include fly-tipping, drainage faults and vandalism.

She said: "It is an absolute disgrace, the estate looks like one of the poorest in Chorley.

"There is still building rubble here and skip after skip has been left and many people have been dumping their furniture.

"There are houses that are worth £100,000 looking out on to a road where there has been fly-tipping."

Mrs Duerdern says there have reports of teenagers throwing loose curb stones and breaking them. She explained that and many areas of the estate, which were originally landscaped by the council, have become overgrown.

She added: "Somebody has to have an opinion if anything is to be done. I have complained many times to the council. I don't want to hear any more excuses.

"There have been many incidents at the estate and there has been a constant drainage problem."

A spokesman for Chorley Borough Council said: "The work at Knebworth Close is controlled by the builders, Fairclough Homes, and while the completion works have been slow to start, the builder has finished the footways and started the roadworks.

"However, Fairclough's inspection of the sewers showed there are problems which need dealing with before laying the final road surfacing.

"A further survey has been carried out by the council to give precise locations of the problems and this has been passed on to the builders."

Fairclough Homes' contractor is expected back on the site in the next few days.

A spokesman for the firm said: "The company is looking into the issues raised."
