HAVING read both letters on the electronic BEN on October 2, I have a question for the two particular vegans who wrote in to complain about Julie Holt.

If Homo Sapien (that's you and me folks!) was meant to eat only vegetable matter, why have we got canine teeth like all other carnivores?

As for gorillas not eating meat. It is a well known fact that our closest living primate relative, the chimpanzee, does eat meat, and actively hunts in groups to catch its prey. This has been revealed several times in Life on Earth (BBC) by Sir David Attenborough.

On a personal note. My youngest, at eight-years-old, decided she was not going to eat meat as it was cruel to animals, which is fair comment.

However, the amount of colds, bugs and general malaise she picked up during that time was far in excess of her health now she has reverted back to eating fish and white meat.

Which, goes to show, eat a balanced diet and you will stay healthy.
