MAY I comment on the behaviour of bus passengers I encountered recently.
On Tuesday, July 3, I took the 501 bus from the King Street bus station, Farnworth. When this vehicle arrived at the main entrance of the Royal Bolton Hospital, quite a number of passengers boarded, including a single mother plus trolley.
As I was sitting in a front seat ready to alight at Broadway, this ignorant girl stood towering over me, saying she wanted my seat to put in her trolley.
When I stood to alight, she almost tripped me in her haste to take the seat. No wonder children grow up bad mannered and unruly with such mothers.
On Wednesday, July 4, I boarded the 501 bus at the Broadway/Minerva Road stop, and a young gentleman with his arm in plaster immediately offered me his seat and stood until another passenger alighted.
However, there was another trolley incident. A grandmother, I assumed, was sitting with a child on her knee. She immediately put the child on the vacant seat and used the trolley to hold her handbag. Ignorance again.
To the young gentleman, I give him praise and hope his injury is better soon. Thank you for the courtesy you afforded me that day.
