A MAN who sexually assaulted a woman in her own home was branded a danger to women.

A judge jailed Geoffrey Makin for three years after hearing he was at grave risk of committing further offences in the future.

Makin, of Long Lane, Hindley Green, appeared at Bolton Crown Court to be sentenced for indecent assault.

Reports from probation and psychiatric experts concluded Makin did not seem to appreciate the severity of the offence or the effect the attack had on his female victim.

Makin, aged 35, subjected a woman to a terrifying sex ordeal after she let him into her house last October.

June Morris, prosecuting, said he asked if her son was in and said he knew him from when they worked together.

Once inside he asked for a drink and said his name was Andrew Martin.

She gave him two glasses of water and became alarmed when he asked her for a cuddle.

She asked him to leave and then, after getting another glass of water, he suddenly grabbed her, forcing her to kiss him.

She told him to stop but he carried on with the attack. He grabbed her breasts, at which point her pet dog bit his leg.

She broke free and ran for the front door chased by Makin, who was still being attacked by the dog.

She managed to get back in the house and called the police.

Makin later denied being there, but, when police said they had forensic evidence from the glass he used, he admitted the offence.

The original charge had been burglary with intent to rape but he admitted indecent assault.

Earlier this year, Makin was acquitted by a jury of sexually assaulting a woman in Borsdane Woods, Wigan, in 1997.

Judge Gillian Ruaux jailed Makin for three years and extended the period to serve on licence for an extra two years. He was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years.
