MEMBERS of St Philips Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society are on a winning streak.

They scooped two prizes in a prize winning run at the Greater Manchester Drama Federation's One Act Play Festival, and three separate awards at the organisation's annual presentation evening.

The performance of Eclipse was runner up in the One Act Play Festival while Peter Henrys, 17, won the Bertram Holland Trophy for best performer in the under-21 category.

Peter, pictured with his trophy, has been involved with St Philips from an early age.

His mother Marion is its secretary, and she was one of the successful winners of a GMDF award, taking the best supporting actress prize. Father, Andy, is chairman of the society, having also worked as stage manager and on making the scenery.

Even Peter's sister, Kathryn, a student at St Martin's College in Lancaster takes time out to appear on stage with St Philips, and is due to take the lead role in its next production, Mike Harding's comedy, Fur Coat and No Knickers. The play will be directed by Graham Cohen and will be staged from September 20 to 22.

In addition to Marion, the society won a GMDF award for best contribution to youth theatre, and Matthew Atkinson won the Certificate of Promise for his performance in The Boyfriend.
