A GROUP of supermarket workers daubed the walls of a Bolton school with paint -- with the full support of teachers.

Five workers from Asda, in Astley Bridge decided to give Oldhams School, on Selkirk Road, Sharples, a face lift.

They grabbed a set of paint brushes and marched to the school during their spare time and within two days the job was complete.

The gang drew pictures of fishes, divers and dolphins along a wall while pupils watched.

The idea came into fruition after teachers spotted an advertisement placed by Asda, offering help with local projects.

One of the store's workers, Daniel Mortimer, aged 22, designed the mural. He said: "When Oldhams School nearly closed down last year, many people seemed to overlook the nursery that is based there.

"I wanted to make the area very colourful to draw attention to the nursery."

Sylvia Reilly, a spokeswoman from Asda, in Astley Bridge, said: "Colleagues from the store have spent their own leisure time at the school to paint the wall. It's shaped up very well."
