HISTORIC WARSHIPS AT BIRKENHEAD, East Float, Dock Road, Birkenhead, Merseyside. The Falkland veteran warships HMS Plymouth and HMS Onyx have been preserved and are open to the public to explore above and below decks. Also the U-boat U534 which was raised from the sea bed 48 years after sinking by a depth charge. Open daily to August, 10am to 5pm. Admission £5 for adults and £3 for children (please note the U534 is for adults only). Ring 0151 650 1573.
HMS BRONINGTON, Quay West, Trafford Warf Road, Wharfside, Trafford Park. HMS Bronington is preserved to illustrate a way of life and work and to commemorate generations of ships and men in the minesweeping service of the Royal Navy. A VIP commentary is introduced by HRH Prince of Wales. Open daily to September, 1pm to 5pm. Admission £2 for adults and £1 for children.
