THE Reebok Stadium has been used as an example of the success a club can enjoy by switching to a new stadium.
Shrewsbury supporters, and their mascot Lenny the Lion, visited Wanderers' state-of-the-art stadium as they looked to strengthen their campaign to relocate from Gay Meadown to a 10,000 all-seater stadium called New Meadow.
The supporters are struggling to convince their local authority to help make the move and are looking at any ways possible to increase the pressure. The delegates from the Independent Shrewsbury Supporters Club are currently touring a number of English clubs which have relocated with specific assistance from local authorities.
Reebok Stadium Facilities Director Jan Kozlowski said: "The backing of the local council was fundamental in the relocation of Bolton Wanderers from Burnden Park to the Reebok Stadium. The club has a great, long-standing rapport with the council.
"Hopefully the Shrewsbury supporters can go back home and tell their councillors what a marvellous development we have here in Bolton and what they can potentially achieve which would reward them, their authorities and their local community."
