SOUTHLANDS High School linked up with Chorley Astley Rotary for a fund raiser in support of the group's main charity event.

Long distance runner Rory Coleman, who holds seven world records and has visited Southlands before, ran round the school track for a full school day -- six hours!

More than 300 pupils joined him throughout the day, using their own PE lessons to do the run. Staff also took part. The minimum target sponsorship was £1,000.

Rory, who recently broke the world record for the longest distance run over seven days, was also accompanied by Dave Carter who has run the second most marathons in the country -- at 21 stone!

The Rotary group's three charities to benefit from the event were Multiple Sclerosis, Childline and Stroke Recovery.
