THE Danish contingent was back up to three with Wanderers beating German clubs Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart for the signature of Henrik Pedersen.

The 26-year-old striker from the Silkeborg club - top scorer in Denmark's Super League last season - passed medical checks before completing a £650,000 transfer.

He arrived at the Reebok yesterday for talks with Sam Allardyce, having elected for the Premiership rather than the Bundesliga. He has signed a four year contract.

Pedersen is the fourth Dane to be recruited to the Reebok ranks and will join fellow countrymen, Per Frandsen and Bo Hansen, in the squad which reports back on Thursday to begin preparations for the club's return to the Premiership.

Pedersen is described by the Silkeborg website as "a fast and physically strong striker who has been an absolute key player of the team."

He has averaged a goal every other game in recent seasons.

Wanderers have found rich pickings at modest prices in Denmark over the past five years and, before Michael Johansen's return to his homeland in June last year, frequently fielded three in their first Xl.

Allardyce was also expected to put the official stamp on the deal that will bring African midfielder, Djibril Diawara, to the Reebok on a season-long loan from Italian club, Torino.

The 26-year-old Senegal international, who agreed the deal a fortnight ago, was also undergoing a medical today before completing the formalities.
