VARIETY is the spice of life for a group of Bolton fund-raisers whose showbusiness connections will bring a little bit of sunshine to the lives of disadvantaged children.
Formed a year ago, the Bolton branch of the Variety Club of Great Britain has held two events to raise money for children in need, and their latest proved to be a star performer.
The club recently packed out the Last Drop Hotel when it staged its grand summer ball with the guest of honour being former Coronation Street favourite, Tony Barton.
With raffles, prize draws and string of fund-raising activities, the ball raised £3,500.
The money will be used for a host of projects, including the Variety Club's famous Sunshine Coaches. Bolton club chairman Paul Wild said: "It was a hugely popular and successful event and we would like to thank everyone who gave it their support."
