MANCHESTER is to play host to one of the world's largest brass band festivals on Saturday, September 8.
The 2001 Great Northern Brass Arts Festival is at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.
The festival begins at noon with a lunchtime concert featuring the Royal Northern College of Music Brass Band and the International Staff Band euphonium soloist Derick Kane. At 2.15pm, the National Champion Youth Band, St Helen's Youth Band, conducted by Lynda Nicholson take to the stage.
An early evening concert at 4.15pm, will feature the 1999 National Champions Fodens Courtois Band.
The gala evening concert starts at 7.15pm, and will showcase some of the world's finest players, including trumpet soloist John Wallace.
