ON behalf of Speakability, the national charity for people with aphasia, I would like to thank everyone who made possible our charity concert at Bolton Parish Church on Saturday, June 16.
These include the artistes Kathryn Harries, Jean Tredaway, Melissa Forshaw, Adrian Thompson, Angela Livingstone, the Bolton Junior Youth Choir and the Bolton Barbershop Choir. My special thanks go to Russell & Russell Solicitors, for their sponsorship of the event and to Mrs Gill Pearl and her team of helpers for organising the event.
The opera singer, Kathryn Harries, began a fund-raising walk for Speakability on May 20 and, as well as walking, she will give a series of six concerts on the way to Land's End. Speakability works on behalf of people who have aphasia, which is the loss of language caused by a stroke or head injury. Speakability organises self-help groups for people with aphasia and provides advice and information through its freephone Helpline (080 8808 9572).
