AS A Bradshaw resident, I was interested in your article on the effect of roadworks on drive times to the town centre.
However, I suspect that the statistics you presented are highly flawed.
It is not correct to compare off-peak travel times with peak travel times, and then attribute the difference entirely to roadworks.
Even when there are no roadworks on the route, it takes me at least twice as long to drive from Bradshaw to Bolton at 8:30am as it does at 11:00am. The reason,of course, is that there are many more cars!
Fortunately, my normal way of getting to Bolton station in the morning is by bicycle, which is actually faster than by car.
Perhaps if more people behaved like me there would be less congestion and less damage to the roads.
In the short term, I favour more roadworks to get rid of the potholes that occasionally try to project me into the path of aggressively-driven cars.
