NEIL Turley is on the verge of putting pen to paper on a new two-year contract which will safeguard his Hilton Park future until the end of the 2003 season.

Turley's try-scoring exploits in this season's NFP competition have alerted Super League predators, but Leigh expect the 21-year-old full-back to agree a new deal within days.

Head coach Paul Terzis said fans shouldn't worry about Turley being lured away from the Centurions'

"Of course Neil's form this season has made a few Super League clubs sit up and take notice. But what they don't realise is just how happy he is here and is determined to try and fulfil his Super League ambitions with the Leigh club," says Terzis.

"Neil has given us every indication that he will sign the new contract.

"I can also stress to fans that there are no get-out clauses in the contract. It's watertight and will remain so. Neil knows that the best thing for his career is to keep focused on his Rugby League and wants to do that at Leigh."

His current deal runs out at the end of this season.

Meanwhile the Centurions' boss hopes to be able to announce a 'prominent' signing in the next few days.

Terzis is keeping his cards close to his chest but admits that if he can pull it off, the signing will raise a few eyebrows.

Kieron Purtill fears his season is over because of a persistent shoulder injury.

The half back is likely to need more surgery, effectively ending his chances of playing again this season.
