Adlington are stuggling to arrange their National Knockout Cup game against Cumbrian outfit Millom.

The Bolton Association side are still involved in the Lancashire Knockout competition against Great Harwood but there is a set date for that fixture on May 20.

With Cross Cup action this weekend it has meant the Millom fixture has to be squeezed into a midweek date but that is proving difficult as the distances involved means players having to take time off work.

Provisionally the match has now been arranged for Thursday next week but the likelihood is that Adlington will be forced to abandon the tie and concentrate on the Lancashire Knockout.

Last season Adlington were beaten in the final of the Cross Cup by Atherton and if they are to go one better this time round, they will have to overcome Elton in Sunday's first round.

Meanwhile Atherton also face an away tie having to go to Lostock, and if they are successful they will be hoping that Clifton beat Walshaw in their tie tomorrow.

Atherton are due to play the winners of that game in the second round away but if it is Clifton, then because of the Swinton club's pitch problems, the match will have to be played at Howe Bridge.
