A COLD wind kept the fish low in Monday's Bank Holiday match on Shore Top.

The Outwood water offers little in the way of windbreaks and fishing sometimes can be at the mercy of the elements.

Trevor Bevin made the most of his peg when he took skimmers and roach on the tip with red maggot to take the match with a well earned 6lbs-10ozs.

Gordon Corfield drew an unfancied peg but his knowledge of the water paid off when he returned second placed weight of 3lbs-4ozs-8drs again caught on the tip with maggot. Les Salmon just scraped into third place with an half ounce advantage with 2lbs-13ozs-8drs over Harry Brown's 2lbs.-13ozs. John Turton was fifth with 2lbs-9ozs-8drs and Les Collier sixth with 2lbs-1ozs. Alan gets his reward IT was a match of two halves for Alan McAtee in last Wednesday's Boathouse open.

In the first half he fished bread punch to good effect but as the bites waned he then switched to blood worm to revive his swim. His efforts were rewarded though when the scales turned to a very creditable 28lbs-8ozs.

The BAS Image angler's catch was mainly made up of skimmers with a few carp. Another BAS Image angler made second place when Carl Lowe tried the punch for a short period before settling into his favoured bloodworm to return 19lbs-20zs.

Third was Deane Angler's Harry McCoy who stuck by the bread punch for the whole of the match and caught skimmers for 16lbs-13ozs.

It is a case of first come first served in next Sunday's match as there are only ten places available. To book on ring Andrew Pearcey on 01204 436267. Bradshaw

results BOLTON Co-op AC held an aggregate match on Bradshaw Hall Fisheries number 3 lake on Sunday and it gave the quivertip anglers an opportunity to shine over the pole lads for once.

Rod Makin baited with red maggot and got the better of a few carp to win the match with 14lbs-2ozs. Dennis France employed similar methods to take second place with 9lbs.-6ozs. Ian Hutchinson came in third with 9lbs-3ozs.

The club's next jaunt is to Beacon View Fisheries at Appley Bridge. All contributions to the angling column are welcome. Please ring Glynn on 01204 439623 or e-mail glynn@gkateley.freeserve.co.uk.
