BOLTON Triathlon Club members took part in the first triathlon of the season at Wrexham where father and son Tony and John Cumming represented the club.
The race consisted of a 400m poolswim, 20k cycle and 5k run. The race was won in 54mins 55secs. Tony took the family honours in 61.42 (22nd overall and fourth vet 40) followed by son John in 70.19 ( second junior).
Several other club members have been warming up with some early season cycle time trials and running races. Athlete of the year Adrian Selby is again setting the early season pace. At the Cleveleys 25 (cycle time trial) he was first club man in 65mins 20 secs, followed by Paul Hayes 67.48, Tony Nicholls 68.45, Tony Cumming 70.42.
Adrian also set the pace in the Salford 10k, coming 13th in 32.08, followed by Tony Cumming in 39.10. Then followed another 25 time trial in awful conditions at Tarleton. Adrian Selby again set the pace in 64.43, followed by Dave Clamp 66.09, Tony Nicholls 68.50, Paul Hayes 69.14, Billy Bonner 70.24, Steve Jackson 71.27 and Neil Haslingden 73.15.
Neil immediately drove home to take part in the Bolton 10k , which he completed in 49.11, followed by girlfriend Alison Haslingden in 61.32.
