CUSTOMERS at a Bolton florist's had a lucky escape when a car mounted the pavement and smashed into the door.
Browsers at Eileen's in Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge, were shocked as the female driver of the F-Reg Austin Montego lost control after braking sharply.
The car veered off the road, smashing a glass door panel, but amazingly no one was hurt in the accident at around 4.30pm yesterday.
One shop worker said: "I just heard a bang and looked up and saw the car. No one was near the door at the time. It could have been a lot worse."
In a separate incident a motorist had a lucky escape when his car smashed through a barrier and came to a stop near a steep drop overlooking the Eagley Mills housing development, in Hough Lane, Eagley.
Fire and ambulance crews were called at 8.45am this morning but it is not thought the driver was injured. The car -- an X-registered Fiesta Zetec -- was towed away with minor damage.
