THE latest press reports suggesting some of William Hague's advisers are urging him to sack Michael Portillo show the only election William Hague is interested in is the post General Election Tory leadership contest.

Not a day goes by without further reports of more Tory disarray and infighting and jostling for William Hague's job. Things are so bad that there are reports of some MPs calling for the return of Margaret Thatcher!

This is the shambles of the once proud Conservative Party after four years under William Hague -- a direct consequence of his weak leadership. It is little wonder that a recent poll of Conservative supporters showed that not even half of them thought Mr Hague would be a good Prime Minister. As Conservative leader, Mr Hague has not made them electable, but instead turned the party into a narrow and irrelevent sect on the fringes of British politics. Under his weak leadership the Tories are divided as ever. He is a leader too weak to lead, his party is too extreme to be led. In short, the Tories are simply unfit to govern.
