I AM sorry to disappoint your correspondent A Moore (BEN, May 3), but the trains I travel on are without exception peak trains -- normally nothing earlier than the 7.23am to Manchester Airport, or later than the 7.56am to Greenbank.
I travelled on the latter yesterday, and was perfectly able to open and read my broadsheet newspaper in relative comfort.
I usually return on the 4.51pm from Piccadilly, where the same conditions apply.
And as to where somebody who does not have a free place in the Councillors' car park can park near Trinity Street station, they can, as about 50 others do every working day, drive down the ramp from Orlando Street bridge, and park free, wallside, within the curtilage of the station itself.
Finally, I have never suggested that people should entirely give up their cars, or that public transport can provide for all of everybody's transport needs. That is obviously untrue. All I have ever suggested is that people should refrain from using their cars inappropriately.
