IT IS good to see a variety of ideas being put forward to boost Bolton's markets.

Ideas include a farmers' market, street trading and the installation of CCTV cameras.

Anything that benefits the town's markets has to be supported.

We need thriving markets. They give a town its identity. Without them, we would be left with shopping centres that lack individualism -- each with the same multi-million pound familiar brands that spring up in just about every town or city throughout the country.
