HOSPITAL staff have been given some crime-fighting tips in the battle against thieves who target the town's carers.
A special mobile police roadshow visited the Royal Bolton Hospital last week to pass on the crime prevention advice.
Mobile phones were also marked and staff issued with security code advice which means the handsets will be protected if they are stolen. The initiative comes after there were more than 50 reported thefts at the Minerva Road complex last year.
It is not known what proportion of those involved property being stolen from patients.
A Trust spokesman welcomed the roadshow's visit adding: "We work very closely with the police and are delighted they were able to come in for the display."
The mobile phone marking comes as police chiefs continue their campaign to protect 5,000 handsets against thieves.
Officers plan to revisit the hospital in the summer to provide further crime prevention tips.
