THE cancellation of the Isle of Man TT Races due to the foot and mouth crisis is good news for somebody. It's just saved their life.

Since the annual races began 94 years ago, 200 people have died, including 11 people in 1993.

They are allowed to continue on the same basis as boxing that if people want to put their own lives at risk in the name of sport then let them do so.

Maybe instead of rueing the loss of this year's event, TT fans should celebrate the fact that one or two of their number will live to race again, even if it's only for another year.

It's also ironic that a disease responsible for so much death should now be responsible for the saving of lives.
