BOSSES at the town's Marks and Spencer store stepped in to help clothe guests left stranded by the hotel fire.

Commercial manager Chris Rawsthorne, based at Bolton's Deansgate branch, agreed to hand underwear, t-shirts and jeans to 25 of the guests.

The hotel residents had left their belongings behind in the Moat House during the rush to evacuate the building. But they found themselves with little to wear prompting a plea by police and firefighters to the famous retailer for clothes.

Mr Rawsthorne said: "We were only too happy to help in any small way we could. We were obviously very sorry to hear about the tragedy."
