A YOUNGSTER in Radcliffe can look forward to getting around in a new wheelchair thanks to regulars at a Bolton social club.

Sam Allington, aged nine, suffers from cerebral palsy and his family desperately wanted to raise £3,000 to buy him an electric wheelchair recommended by his physiotherapist.

Thanks to events, including sponsored walks, the family managed to raise about £2,000, but they now have enough money to buy the wheelchair after a cabaret night at Dobbies Sports and Social Club, Bradley Fold.

Event organisers Eddie Onuszko and Rob McKelvie were over the moon to raise £1,271 in just one night. Eddie, a member of the club's committee, said: "Sam is a great lad and comes here every Sunday afternoon. The cabaret night was brilliant and we never dreamt we would raise so much money."
