I READ with incredulity the latest instalment on fox-hunting from the pen of Mr P Osbourne of Loxham Street, Bolton (Bolton Evening News: April 17).
His frequent letters on this subject might suggest to some that he is a part-time member of the editorial team!
Mr Osbourne comes across as passionately opposed to fox-hunting and you would have thought that, if he really cared about banning the sport, he would welcome the fact that local Conservative spokesman, James Stevens, has expressed his strong opposition to hunting with hounds.
Sadly, Mr Osbourne is not content with Mr Stevens' answer and instead claims that the Conservative Party would re-introduce hunting, despite the fact that William Hague has made it clear that, should hunting be banned, a Conservative government would not repeal any such ban.
Perhaps, if Mr Osbourne is as passionate as he claims, he would do better to welcome Mr Stevens' opposition to the sport and instead direct his fire towards the Labour government who, if comments in the national press are to be believed, are backtracking on their previous promise to introduce a ban on hunting.
