MEMBERS of Bolton Catholic Musical and Choral Society have to be in fine voice for the next two months -- as they have a busy time ahead of them.

The Youth Theatre presents Bugsy Malone at the Theatre Church, Seymour Road, Astley Bridge from Thursday to Saturday, April 26 to 28, 7.15pm. This is traditionally popular with audiences of all ages, and will feature a young cast of more than 30 young people.

Gary Harvey is producer and Kathryn Wilkinson is the show's musical director.

Taking the starring roles are, pictured, Joanne Swaby as Blousey and Carl Banks who appears as Bugsy.

Tickets £6 and £4 concessions, are from 07967 377547. Meanwhile the choral section is in rehearsal for its presentation of Mendelssohn's Elijah on Saturday, May 19 at Bolton's Victoria Hall, Knowsley Street.

Craig Smith takes the role of Elijah. He is joined by other soloists, Margo Campbell (soprano), Cari Searle (mezzo) and Andrew Nicholson (tenor). Soloists and a choir of almost 70 voices will be accompanied by an orchestra assembled from Bolton's finest, under the baton of Paul Stanley.

Elijah is a beautiful and moving oratorio tracing the life of a great prophet, and is one of Mendelssohn's finest works.

Tickets are £7 and £6 concessions, and are from the ticket secretary on 302602.
