Wanderers

4-4-2

MATT CLARKE 7

Under a bit of pressure at the end but he still had only one shot to save.

ANTHONY BARNESS 7 Impressive again; hit the post first half and made one slip in the second but recovered well.

GUDNI BERGSSON 7

Strolled it! Had to be on guard in a dull first quarter but never troubled after that.

COLIN HENDRY 7 In the wars again but soldiered on; Norwich just didn't have enough to stretch him.

ROBBIE ELLIOTT 7 Saw plenty of the ball and made a purposeful contribution in the second half.

NICKY SUMMERBEE 8 His best performance yet at the Reebok - tenacious as well as productive.

PER FRANDSEN 7 Busy and bustling; denied the second goal by a brave save by Green.

GARETH FARRELLY 9 Undaunted by his midweek disappointment; another energetic display, all over the pitch.

RICARDO GARDNER 8 Tormented Norwich on the left and again provided the cutting edge to the attack.

DEAN HOLDSWORTH 8 Deserved his goal for a typically hard-working, intelligent performance.

IAN MARSHALL 6 Replaced by Hansen after toiling up front in a poor first half that had no tempo.

Subs: Bo Hansen (7) for Marshall h-t, Franck Passi for Summerbee 85 mins. Not used: Michael Ricketts, Mike Whitlow, Tommy Wright.

Man of the Match

GARETH FARRELLY

HE was distraught after the Crewe defeat but was clearly undaunted. His non-stop performance - covering every area of the midfield was both dynamic and inspirational.

And, unlike at Gresty Road, this story had a happing ending.

Magic Moment

THE joy and the relief at the final whistle when, after 810 minutes of trying, Wanderers had finally secured their first league win at the Reebok since the FA Cup victory over Scunthorpe on January 27.

Moan of the Match

IT all worked out well in the end but the first quarter was as dull as ditchwater. Allardyce said he'd be satisfied with an ugly 1-0 win and they don't come much uglier or uninspiring than the first 25 minutes.

ACTION SHOTS 17 mins: Problems at the back as Roberts gets on the end of Jackson's deep cross; Bergsson intercepts the header and clears the danger.

22 mins: Holdsworth appeals furiously - but in vain - for a penalty when he is held down by Mackay in a challenge for Elliott's cross.

26 mins: A dull game comes to life as Marshall fires a fierce left footer just over Green's bar after collecting Gardner's cross in space at the back of the box.

33 mins: Farrelly goes desperately close, latching onto a poor clearance to hit a crisp shot, which is deflected inches over.

35 mins: The aim is high again as Holdsworth's header from Gardner's right wing cross sails over.

36 mins: Now it's Gardner on the left, curling in a cross which Mackay cuts out in desperation with Holdsworth waiting to pounce.

38 mins: Norwich's reply comes through Mulryne but his shot is well wide.

42 mins: Barness is the closest yet, drilling in a low 25-yarder which Green, unconvincingly, manages to touch onto the post.

Half-time: 0-0

47 mins: Frandsen tests Green with a powerful, curling free kick but the young keeper gets everything behind it.

61 mins: Gardner brings a chanceless passage of play to life, steering a header narrowly wide from Summerbee's cross.

64 mins: After being camped in the Norwich half, Wanderers survive a major scare, Kenton shooting inches wide after a Barness slip.

GOAL!

65 mins: Holdsworth breaks the deadlock, catching Green out of position - still lining up his wall - and curling in a free kick from 25 yards.

68 mins: Holdsworth almost doubles his money, heading a Gardner cross onto the bar.

71 mins: Green saves desperately at Frandsen's feet, denying the Dane, who is in the clear from Hansen's lobbed pass.

80 mins: Llewellyn hits the visitors' one and only shot on target - no problems for Clarke.

90 mins: Wanderers survive a few tense moments at Clarke's end and have penalty claims turned down at the other when Mackay appears to handle Farrelly's cross.

Full-time: 1-0
