BOLTON DARTS LEAGUE

IN the Bolton Darts League in aid of the Bolton Senior Gateway Club for Mentally Handicapped Adults, Gina Jones has confirmed her reputation as being the top young player in the Bolton area by winning a top solo award. She captured the Ladies Individuals Competition (Eva Holden Trophy) in grand style at the Moonlight Club, St George's Road, Bolton.

Gina was not one of the favourites on the nighty but she did prove that she can match the senior players with some outstanding throwing and deadly finishing. On the night she only dropped two legs . In the last 16 she beat Lynn Jones 2-0 and then in the quarter finals accounted for Margaret Rowlands 2-1. In the semi final she scored a 2-0 win over Edith Stephens and in the final recorded a 3-1 win against Maureen Taylor. In another Last 16 match the eventual runner up Maureen accounted for Dawn Lowe 2-0. In the quarter final she beat Mabel Macari 2-0 and in the semi final accounted for Dot Ainsworth 2-0.

Other Last 16 results -- Mabel Macari beat Pauline Lomax 2-0. Dot Ainsworth beat Eva Holden 2-1. Denise Meanley beat Pat Boardman 2-0.

Quarter Finals -- Dot Ainsworth beat Denise Meanley 2-0, Edith Stephens beat Linda Cotton 2-0.
