A GOOD letter from Mrs Haydock (Saturday, March 3)1, and a few points I think our planners should observe.
A. A look into Pilkington/Springfield Road plans and speak to residents.
B. With the closure of Fletcher Paper Mill shortly, and the loss of many more jobs locally, let's see what our council is made of?
Now is the time to create more employment for the people losing their jobs at Fletchers and in the village. The site is industrial and ready-made for work.
For many years now Fletchers have employed local people. So this should be our council's opportunity to achieve their goal and keep our village people employed and happy.
My ideas have always been to utilise existing sites and buildings.
The old power station and the railway sidings were both industrial and was lost to housing.
So why not try to save public money and avoid the Dome scenario and, who knows, our council tax may then come back down?
