ANYONE who has catered for large numbers knows the problems involved.

Most of us, however, are used to meal provision on a much smaller scale.

It is easy, therefore, to knock catering at large institutions like hospitals. Some members of Bolton Community Health Council are far from happy with the standard of food for patients at the Royal Bolton Hospital, which serves up to 1,000 lunches a day.

There are always complaints about hospital food. Mealtimes break up the day for patients, so expectations can run high.

Since the Hospital was merged five years ago, its catering -- both in the restaurant and for patients -- has won high praise.

There will always be complaints from some people, but we believe that most are satisfied with a tasty service.
