BOLTON Under 15s failed to lift the Greater Manchester Schools' County Cup after going down 4-1 to Salford in the final at Littleton Road last night.

The local lads moved into the final with a comfortable 3-0 win against Bury but they found the going much tougher against a Salford side who have also won the Greater Manchester Schools' League.

Salford opened the scoring in the second minute but Bolton quickly equalised through Matt Eckersall (Turton).

Bolton were unlucky not to lead at the break with the Salford keeper making two point blank saves from Bolton's Sam Garner (Canon Slade) before Salford took control. but it was Salford who went in front through David Cossey 10 minutes into the second half.

Matthew Burke gave the Salford youngsters a two-goal cushion minutes later but Bolton's Sam Garner must have felt that it wasn't his day when he had a goal disallowed for off-side.

Salford's man of the match Sam Ewitt failed to increase his sides' score when his strike wasn't given for the same reason but Salford completed the scoring with five minutes remaining when Karl Nolan fired home to ensure a comfortable win.
