CHART-TOPPERS Point Break will use a gig in Bolton next week to premiere their new material.

The band will be playing their first concert for almost a year when they play the Pop Fever gig at the Albert Halls on Wednesday.

And they have sent a clear message to fans set to pack the venue: "Brace yourself for what is about to come."

The group, which includes two former Byker Grove stars, will be headlining the Bolton concert.

It will be the first gig for the band's newcomer, American-born Dustin Strong, who joins the original pairing of David Oliver and Brett Adams.

David and Brett, however, deny they are following in the footsteps of fellow Byker Grove stars Ant and Dec, who also formed a pop group.

Brett said: "The music comes first for us. Ant and Dec are two great lads but their career is heading towards them becoming the new Morecambe and Wise.

"It took us five years to get where we are so we're not about to start confusing things."

Point Break went from strength to strength with their debut album, Apocadelic, which shot straight into the UK charts as the second highest new entry of the week.

The trio's previous chart successes include the singles Do We Rock, Stand Tough - which hit number seven in the UK, and the ballads Freakytime, You and What About Us.

Last year the band starred in the Smash Hits Tour line-up.

David said: "We're really eager to get on the road again because we've been holed up in a studio since the beginning of the year.

"It'll be great to meet the fans again and we thank them for sticking by us even though we've been off the scene for a little while."

The concert will be hosted in part by Key 103 DJ and BEN columnist Darren Proctor.

The gig aims to raise money for the newspaper's Bolton Busting Breast Cancer campaign and it will form a spectacular Easter holiday treat for the town's youngsters.

It has been organised by the BEN in association with Scan Computers, based at the Middlebrook Retail Park.

Dustin said: "I've never been to Bolton so I'm not sure what to expect. Coming to Britain has been a bit of a culture shock. It took me a while to get used to the Ollie and Brett's Geordie accents too.

"But I've settled now, learned the dance moves and songs and I'm ready to hit the north."

Some tickets for the concert -- which starts at 8pm - are still available at the Albert Halls Box Office for just £10. How to get tickets:

Tickets are available for £10 at the Albert Halls Box Office, Victoria Square, from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday. Credit card bookings can be made by phone on 01204 334400. MEET THE BANDS!

Most of the bands -- including Point Break -- have agreed to a post-show signing session. And that means fans attending the gig will be able to MEET their band in person.
