POLICE are warning people in Bolton not to buy electrical goods from men who approach them in the streets.
A gang has been walking up to members of the public in car parks, supermarkets and shopping centres and asking them if they would like to buy the items, which turn out to be faulty.
The goods, which included televisions, videos and video cameras, were made by respectable brands like Sony and were shrink wrapped when sold.
But when the victims took the equipment home they realised they could not work .
A number of men are believed to be involved in the fraud. They all spoke in a Liverpool or Irish accent and drove around in a white Toyota Hiace van, registration number T868 TOL.
In the past four months they have struck in Sale, Altrincham and Stretford. Police have issued the warning because people are losing out financially and the faulty goods could be dangerous.
If you have any information which could help catch these men call DC Andy Warren on 0161 856 7651.
